Cypress Valley Treehouses

As soon as our kids finished the school year, our family embarked on a unique adventure to a charming treehouse retreat. With my husband and our three lively sons, we embraced the chance to disconnect from the digital world and enjoy the simple pleasures of nature. This getaway offered a blend of camping and comfort, providing the perfect opportunity to bond, explore, and create lasting memories together..

The Allure of the Treehouse Retreat

As we climbed the rustic wooden stairs, our excitement grew with each step toward our treehouse hideaway. Nestled among towering trees, the treehouse blended seamlessly with the forest. The air felt fresher, filled with the earthy scent of the forest, hinting at the adventures awaiting us.

Perched high above the ground, the treehouse offered an escape from the noise of our daily lives. It invited us to live by the whispers of the wind and the rustling of leaves, a stark contrast to the city sounds we were used to. The treehouse’s charm was in its simplicity, encouraging us to slow down and appreciate nature.

Inside, the treehouse was cozy, combining rustic charm with thoughtful amenities. Each corner, each wooden beam, seemed to hold stories from previous visitors and promised new ones of our own. From this elevated hideaway, we enjoyed mornings with the sunrise filtering through the canopy and nights under a blanket of stars. The treehouse’s simplicity brought us closer to nature and to each other.

Packing Essentials for Our Treehouse Stay

Getting ready for our nature retreat, we had to pack carefully since there was no restaurant on-site. As the family chef for this trip, I made sure we had everything we needed for simple yet hearty meals, and packed some favorite board games to make our stay even more enjoyable. Cypress Valley will send you a very handy list of items to brig on your stay depending on the accommodation you chose. Don’t forge to take some non-toxic bug spray!

Embracing the Simplicity of Glamping

Our treehouse retreat brought an unexpected luxury—the luxury of simplicity. Free from the constant buzz of technology, we found ourselves more connected to the world around us. This was glamping at its finest: the great outdoors softened by the comfort of a roof overhead, challenging us to engage with nature without the usual modern conveniences.

In this setting, each sunrise seemed more vibrant, and each night sky dazzled with stars. Without digital distractions, we had uninterrupted time to explore and bond. The simplicity of our living conditions fostered creativity and improvisation. Board games, storytelling, and laughter became the highlights of our days, helping us fully engage with each other and our surroundings. Cypress Valley does have WiFi available in their common area for those who need to connect at some point during their stay.

Discoveries at the Nearby Water Hole

A short drive from our treehouse led us to Krause Springs, a wonderful swimming hole below a water fall. The boys splashed in the cool water, their laughter a perfect contrast to the tranquility around us. The water hole became a playground for imagination and adventure, offering pure joy and laughter. Board Games, Cooking, and Conversations

Our treehouse became a hub of warmth and camaraderie. Board games turned into fun, competitive gatherings, and cooking became a team effort, with everyone contributing to the meals we shared. As rain fell and stars peeked through the canopy, our conversations flowed freely, touching on light and deep topics alike. In these moments, surrounded by nature and disconnected from our usual digital lives, we rediscovered the joy of being present. Here, amidst laughter and shared stories, we strengthened our family bonds and created memories to last a lifetime.

In the rustic charm and natural serenity of our treehouse, we discovered the joy of working together. Tasks that might have seemed mundane became opportunities for connection and growth. The boys, with laughter and occasional bickering, found joy in simple chores. This unplugged lifestyle stripped away distractions, revealing the strength of our family bond.

Sleeping in a treehouse was even better than any childhood dream. All made possible by Cypress Valley, in Spicewood, Texas.

Each Cypress Valley treehouse is unique and eco-friendly, making our stay feel special and sustainable. We left feeling refreshed and recharged. It’s no wonder these treehouses have been featured in The New York Times and Texas Monthly—they truly offer an adventure worth having.

We stayed in the Nest treehouse because it was perfect for the five of us—my husband, our three sons, and me. The Nest is spacious and can accommodate up to six people. They also have other treehouses like Yoki, Lofthaven, Juniper, and Willow, each designed for two guests. If you’re coming with a bigger group, the Ranch House is a great option—it sleeps up to 15 and has a fantastic view of the creek ravine.

For those who prefer to stay on the ground, the glamping tents are a fun alternative. Each tent sleeps two and is close to shared amenities like BBQ grills, a pool, and a games area. There’s also a Camp Store where you can grab complimentary espresso drinks and other snacks. Our stay was truly unforgettable, and we can’t wait to go back.
